Bamboo Shrimp, also known as Singapore Flower Shrimp, are a truly amazing and fascinating species due to their lively personalities and their ability to quickly change color based on their mood and/or surroundings. Their colors tend to range from tan to dark brown, but once they become comfortable in their environments, they often turn a vibrant red or a beautiful cerulean blue! These shrimp are one of the largest freshwater shrimp, ranging in length from 1.5 to 3.5 inches. This listing is for juvenile Bamboo Shrimp at about 1 inch in length, so they are smaller than the young adult Bamboo Shrimp that come from our Large Bamboo Shrimp listings. These shrimp are known to reproduce only in seawater (saltwater). They are easy to keep in a home freshwater aquarium, as no special equipment is needed for them to flourish. Bamboo Shrimp are peaceful and will get along with any other non-aggressive critters in your aquarium. They generally can be kept with small to medium-sized fish, such as a Bristlenose Pleco, Guppy, Endler, Kuhli Loach, Cardinal Tetra, and Freshwater Eel. They can also be kept with dwarf shrimp (including Babaulti Shrimp, Cardinal Shrimp, Tangerine Shrimp) and most snails (including Nerites, Ramshorn Snails, Limpets, or Black Devil Snails). Like dwarf shrimp, they eat leftover fish food, and their diet can include supplements like invert food and wafers. They do not eat plants so are totally safe to keep with aquatic plants.
